David Joyner was born and raised just outside of Memphis, Tennessee where he was, at an early age, influenced by the music of the area. From Rock and Roll to Blues, Country, and Soul he drew inspiration. This led to David picking up a guitar and joining his first band. After some years performing in bars and clubs he moved up to being in the house band at multiple MGM properties. As a singer, David quickly gained a reputation in the music community for his searing high notes and uncanny ability to mimic other vocalists. Later in his career David toured the Gulf Coast region and much of the country in some of the most prominent rock and party bands in the south before making the move to New Orleans. It was there that, with his massive range and vocal versatility, David joined forces with The Phunky Monkeys to help form the veritable super group they are today.
