NIGEL

Nigel is a professional singer and native of New Orleans, LA. While her parents were not musicians, Nigel grew up in a home where music was deeply appreciated and she was influenced early on by the voices of Michael Jackson, Aretha Franklin, Al Green, Luther Vandros, Sade, Jill Scott, Erykah Badu and so many more. At the age of 12, Nigel began taking piano lessons and her love for performing began. During high school she studied musical theatre at New Orleans Center for Creative Arts, expanding her love for singing as well as dancing and acting. After graduating from Loyola University of New Orleans with a Bachelor of Science in Music Industry Studies Nigel furthered her music career, featuring in live performances alongside Big Freedia, Chris Daughtry, Yolanda Adams, Trisha Yearwood, Seal, Prince Royce and Jencarlos Canela as a background singer. During this time, she also wrote and recorded her debut EP “Everything At Once” which was released in 2020. She now feels incredibly grateful to have found a home with The Phunky Monkeys!
